Directions

Knitgrrl Studio is located inside the Screw Factory building, which is now known as the Lake Erie Building at Templar Industrial Park, at 13000 Athens Ave, Lakewood, OH 44107, in Lakewood’s historic Birdtown district. Our phone number is 216-712-7667.

The Screw Factory building is home to many artists’ studios and hosts a wide variety of events, including open studios and more. Among Knitgrrl Studio’s neighbors are ceramic and enamel artists, decorative painters, glassworkers, painters, mixed media artists and much more. We encourage you to say hi to the neighbors if you happen to see their spaces open when you visit, you never know what you might find! Keep your eyes open on the building’s website for details on upcoming open studio events.

There are many ways to get to the building, and several ways into the building, which is quite large. In addition, the management is currently creating new entrances into the building, just to make things even more fun!

Step one, get to the building itself:

Via public transit: take the RTA Red Line to the Triskett rapid station, or any bus that stops at Triskett (which is serviced by the #46 Rocky River-Westlake, the #70 Bunts-West 150, the #75X and the North Olmsted #83 West 130th bus lines). Exit on the Lakewood Heights Boulevard side.

From the east side: take I-90 to W. 117th and head north (towards the lake). Turn left on Madison, and left on Clarence (you will see Bela Dubby coffeeshop at the corner). You can take Clarence all the way to the end (Bramley Rd, across from the Triskett RTA station) then turn left directly into the back parking lot. This entrance is open no matter what time of day. If visiting between 9-5 M-F, you can also turn left onto Athens and enter into the gate facing Madison Park.

From the west side: take your preferred route to Madison Avenue and follow the directions as above. If you are coming north on Warren (W. 150th), you can also turn right directly onto Athens at the Warren/Alger split.

Getting inside and to the second floor

For handicapped persons or those needing extra assistance, feel free to call up to the studio and we’ll come down to get you. The elevator at “B” above has a ramp next to the loading dock. Go up the ramp past the maintenance department and wait inside the garage door.

If you don’t mind a short flight of stairs, there is a set of stairs next to the large freight elevator at “B.” Go through the door or garage door, you’ll see a set of stairs in front of you. We’re on the second floor. Turn right and walk down the hallway. Look for the bright blue door.

The freight elevator located at “C,” labeled “Central Elevator” is where most artists go in and out. Be sure to close both gates or it won’t work! Press the up button until you reach the second floor, walk out, turn left and down the hallway, through a set of open doors and around the corner — you’ll see our blue door.

There are other staircases inside the building, we’ll be posting photos and additional details soon to give you all possible options for getting inside!

When all else fails, call us on 216-712-7667 and we’ll come get you from the parking lot!
